Senior United Nations Official to Launch New Jersey International Trade Initiative
Mr. Amir Dossal, Executive Director of the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships, will join over 100 business leaders at a reception in South Orange on November 2, to launch the Transatlantic Business Council.
The Transatlantic Business Council, which is supported by a group of bankers, lawyers, senior business executives and academics from both sides of the Atlantic, has been established to strengthen and promote bilateral investment and trade between New Jersey and the European Community.
FISH operates as a "rotating shelter," accepting up to 14 homeless people at a time, mostly women and children, and providing them with temporary housing at one of the network's 11 churches. "Guests" of the program spend their nights at a participating church for one week, then move to another of the network churches.
At each site, church volunteers coordinate dinners and overnight care for the guests, who spend their stays receiving counseling and help as they look for work and permanent housing.
But during the day, most of those churches aren't available to the program. And while most of the guests are out during the day at work, school or job interviews, FISH Hospitality Executive Director Susan Baybutt said they still need a place to stay between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. So for the past seven years, FISH has used the Fatima House at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Piscataway rent-free as a daytime home base for the guests. continued here http://www.c-n.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080110/NEWS/801100354
